Betty Estell Pilgrim

Estell Pilgrim, 81, of Stamford and formerly of Houston, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011 at her residence in Stamford. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jesse Tripp officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Estell was born June 11, 1929 in Joaquin, Texas to Thomas and Dossie Farris. She was raised and educated in the Houston area. She graduated high school in 1947 and married Darrell Grady Pilgrim on June 25, 1948. The couple made their home in the Houston area until 1962 when they moved to New Caney, Texas Mr. Pilgrim passed away in 2002. Estell moved to Stamford in 2010 to be near her daughter. She was a PBX operator for an answering service for over 25 years in New Caney and was a member of the New Caney Family Worship Center.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Debra Lynn Calcote and husband Randy of Stamford, 1 son, David Darrell Pilgrim and wife Corrine of Splendora, Texas, 1 brother, Tom Luther Farris and wife Sandra of Kingwood, Texas and 1 sister, Margaret Thompson and husband Gary, of Tuscola, Texas, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Preceding Estell in death were her parents, her husband of 53 years, 2 sons, Jimmy Pilgrim and Danny Pilgrim, 1 sister, Helen Dean, and 1 great grand son, Joey Nunn.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dylan Hough, Thomas Pilgrim, Jesse Trip, Ryan Baggett, Doug Thompson, and Gary Thompson.
