Larry Donald Denson of Stamford, Texas passed away on February 27th, 2016 at the age of 75 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born October 24, 1940 in Stamford, Texas to Alfred C. and Vera Mae Wilson Denson. He was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated Stamford High School in 1958 and continued his education at Tarleton State University and North Texas State University, where he majored in business administration.
Larry was the proprietor of the Party Port package store and enjoyed meeting new friends and patrons for over 35 years. Customers knew him for his infamous chili dogs. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also had an affinity for reading and cooking. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind and gentle man with a loving soul.
He is preceded in death by his parents A.C. and Vera Mae Denson. He is survived in death by his loving wife of 25 years Christine, his three children, Laura Denson, Jon Denson and Mark Denson all of Houston: and one brother Randy Hugh Denson of Stamford.
From the Denson children, Dad was fortunate to be allowed to stay at home and be kept comfortable and cared for by his wife Christine. She took amazing care of our father and for that we are eternally grateful and will never forget her dedication and commitment to our dad.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Rosary service at Tankersley Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 6 p.m. and a memorial service on Friday, March 4th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Stamford with the Rev. Jessie Morton officiating.
